Product/Design Engineer

Air Quality Engineering, Inc. is a 45+ year manufacturer air cleaners and air filtration systems for industrial, medical and commercial applications. Manufactured in Minnesota, we take pride in the quality and reliability of our products, providing customers with the best product solutions. We seek an entry level and experienced Assembler to join Air Quality Engineering’s team to help build air cleaners that help improve air quality and safety.

The Product/Design Engineer works as a member of a small engineering team developing and supporting high quality air filtration equipment for use in Commercial, Industrial and Kitchen Exhaust markets. This position and will be responsible for all technical aspects of the product life cycle for our Kitchen Exhaust and Industrial products. Responsibilities will include product design & development, applications engineering, manufacturing engineering, and providing technical support.

Required Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline with 3-5 years of experience.
  • Prior experience with product design & development, applications engineering, manufacturing engineering, or technical support.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks or AutoDesk Inventor.
  • Knowledge of basic electronics with the ability to read schematics, perform simple wiring, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with all internal departments as well as customers and suppliers.
  • Intermediate to advance skills with MS Office suite of products.
  • Able to quickly and effectively perform basic troubleshooting as well as full root cause investigations.
  • General understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Able to develop training tools and resources in electronic format or presented to small groups of people.

Highly Desired Skills/Experience

  • Sheet metal design and fabrication experience.
  • Experience designing or specifying air filtration equipment. Specifically, particulate and odor removal.
  •  Working knowledge of regulatory body certifications including but not limited to CE, UKCA, ETL/UL, CSA, and CARB.
  • Advanced knowledge of electronics with the ability to understand and design high voltage circuits and control systems.
