Fabrication Manager

We are Air Quality Engineering, Inc. a 45+ year manufacturer of air cleaners and air filtration systems for industrial, medical, and commercial applications. Manufactured in Minnesota, we deliver quality and reliable products that our clients trust to keep their employees and customers safe from toxic fumes, dust, smoke, contaminates and other particulates. Designed and fabricated in our Brooklyn Park, Minnesota facility, we take pride in the quality and reliability of our products and our commitment to providing our customers with the best-in-class product solutions.

We seek an experienced Fabrication Manager to plan, manage, direct and coordinate our fabrication and welding team. Responsibilities include:

Team Management

  • Supervise shop floor employees
  • Conduct daily standup meetings
  • Provide input on production staffing levels
  • Develop and train staff
  • Recruit, direct, and discipline staff as needed

Production Planning & Fabrication Operations

  • Schedule and plan production
  • Ensure sufficient inventory levels of raw material for production
  • Create work orders
  • Balance and audit daily labor reports
  • Participate as a production manager member of the operations team; planning and setting metrics related to strategic goals
  • Maintain a safe working environment, achieve measurable safety metrics and participate on the safety committee
  • Support organizational goals, monitor adherence to rules, regulations, processes, and procedures
  • Technical support including maintenance of equipment and coordination of new machine set-up

Lean / Continuous Improvement

  • Facilitate continuous improvement to eliminate waste and increase productivity
  • Champion organizational efficiencies, and continuous improvement utilizing Lean tools, Kaizen, standard work and 5S


  • Improve production performance
  • Achieve departmental metrics

Qualified candidates will have 5+ years of related metal fabrication leadership experience including hands-on knowledge of blueprint reading, welding, punch press/brake, CNC, and related equipment. Experience with Continuous Improvement and Lean Initiatives, desired. We seek a collaborative leader and communicator with proven success in production management, supervising and motivating a production team. Experience creating production-related reporting and utilizing an ERP, required.
